Ruth Vance
Head VI, 1971
Oil on canvas
35.5 × 30.5 cm (14 × 12 in)
CR 71-02
One of eleven small heads painted on the standard 35.5 by 30.5 centimetre format Vance used for nothing else. She kept all of them. This is the sixth and the only one in which the armature is absent entirely — the head sits on the violet ground with nothing holding it.
